Tax Credit Settlement Deadline May Be Extended

For those "scrambling" to settle on their home purchase by June 30 (to qualify for the tax credit) there may be relief - “Lawmakers proposed today a measure to extend the closing deadline to receive the homebuyer tax credit. The bill would only apply to buyers who signed a contract by April 30, but it would extend the deadline for closing from June 30 until September 30.” NOTE - this is not a "done deal" but could pass and relieve some of the pressure on everyone to get things done in the next 19 days.
